Do your homework if you care about health.  Click on Search and then enter the either the kennel name or the fill AKC registered name of the sire.  (Ours will be under Buckland’s or BLK’s)  Click the button next to “Any Part of the Name”, select Great Dane from the list of breeds and then click “Begin Search.”  A list of Danes should come up pick the dog you want to look at and when his/her information comes up you can click on any of the siblings to see their information and offspring.

HAVING A CHIC NUMBER DOES NOT MEAN THE DANE PASSED ALL THE TESTS.  It just means they took all the tests.  Do your homework to verify results.

Breeding to the Standard

Here is the official illustrated standard for the Great Dane.

Print this out or have it available when you interview a breeder.  They should know this standard extremely well.  How can you breed correct Danes without knowing what they should look like, what their behavior should be or what they were bred for.  If the breeder doesn’t know this standard, in our opinion, there is no way they can produce a correct Great Dane.  I think most people who purchase a Great Dane puppy want it to look and act like a Great Dane.

Buying a Dane to Save it from it’s Breeder

Many people feel sorry for the poor puppies that are produced by back yard/puppy mill breeders and wish to save one.  In our opinion, when you do this you are only encouraging them to continue breeding.   If you want to save a Dane purchase one from rescue.  Don’t line the pockets of these bad breeders.

Buck Land Kennel Danes being bred by non-Show/non-Obedience Kennels

We try extremely hard to keep all of our dogs away from these kennels but inevitably a PET quality pup will end up in one of these kennels with full registration.  They will manage to get them by lying and deceiving the breeder.  Rest assured they are PET QUALITY and SHOULD NEVER be bred.  If you don’t see pictures of our Dogs other than the pup on their site it should be a dead give away we don’t approve of the Dane being bred.  Buying one out of this dog/bitch will NOT get you a Buckland Kennel Dane.
